This is an Introduction to Chakras
I am going to try to make learning about the Chakras as simple as I can for you. If you want to research further, I'll warn you now .. there are a LOT of Chakras out there!
All-in-all, there are about 88,000 suggested Chakras! Yes! About 88,000!
Now .. Don't panic! I am not going to cover all of those .. LOL
Learning about chakras is actually quite simple once you get the basics. I am going to cover the main 7 Chakras to start with, then I will go over the 15 that follow. These 22 chakras are ones that you can easily work with once you have learned how.

Energy runs through everything in life. It’s a basic belief of physics. That tree outside, and the flower and grass that grow near it .. they have chakras. That dog, cat, goat ( had to put that in there ), or any other animal, yes, they too have chakras. Mother Earth has chakras. Every living being has chakras. Kirlian photography, named after Soviet inventor Semyon Kirlian. ... This camera, the AuraCam 3000, used an algorithm developed by Coggins and his team of clairvoyants to transform electrical input into the bright colors of aura photos.
But we are going to just concern ourselves with yours, mine and ours :)
Getting to know your own energy source - your chakras - brings you into a close and personal connection with how your body acts and reacts to stresses, while also helping you gain insights into how to heal traumas and patterns you may have been carrying around with you your entire life.
Getting to grips with healing and balancing your chakras on the simplest level, will enable you to heal your Emotional, Spiritual and Physical self.
Advanced work, like that of a Shaman or Reiki Master, requires diligent meditation, but adding aids, like essential oils, sound, crystals and yoga can help balance the chakras of the physical body, soul and mind.
As part of each of the following Chakra's Blog post, we'll cover specific chakra balancing techniques for each chakra.
What are Chakras?

“Chakra” is a Sanskrit word which literally translates to “Wheel” or “Vortex”. The chakras, themselves, are wheels of energy running through the aura and into the physical body. Think of going to a concert. Remember the feeling of that loud base coming from the speakers? You probably felt it vibrate through your skin and into your body. You can't see it, but you know it's there. That vibration .. that energy of soundwaves. Chakras are like those soundwaves, moving constantly inside you. Even when they are unbalanced, or blocked, there is still some movement.
Now bear with me here. This photo also taken with Kirlian photography.

The aura is made up of seven layers or bodies, which can be easily seen as colors (with practice). The first layer, our physical body, can of course be easily seen by all. The outer ones emanate from it as the etheric bodies – two emotional layers, two mental and two spiritual - the main seven. It acts as a protective layer for the body and functions as a barometer for the emotions. Permeating through the aura, into the physical body, the chakras run the length of the spine, from bottom to top, then out through the head too. Seemingly they transmit information from the spirit, through the mental and emotional bodies, into the physical corpus, then return communication from the organs and your body back to the spirit via the layers of the aura. The soul and spirit are different and reside separately.
The soul, believed to be your timeless light, incarnated through many lifetimes, is thought to live in chakra 8, The element of the immortal soul.
Opening and closing, like clockwise spinning vortices, the chakras seem to vitalize the physical body by “charging” the glands to produce and distribute hormones throughout the body.
Function and Dysfunction of the Chakras

Clearly, to vitalize the body the chakras must work effectively, but commonly they can begin to wane or get weak.
Oftentimes their energy will become too weak.
Sometimes they jam shut causing blocked chakras, which means no energy can get through or just as likely, they can become overly energetic and seep out way too much energy. As we look at each chakra in turn, it will become clear what that might look like, but the best example might be someone stricken by grief. Example: Their heart chakra jams open, so each time they go to a family gathering they might be able to muster up some degree of enjoyment, but by the next day they are back in the doldrums again. Because the heart chakra doesn’t close, and indeed vitalize the heart and lungs, the next day their heart aches again and they keep sighing and crying because the vault hasn’t had an opportunity to lock in and preserve the joy.
A chakra’s shape can also change from what should look like a fairly circular spiral to an ellipse if there is a distortion in its power.
Think of a bicycle tire .. it's round and when taken care of spins freely. Hit a curb with that bicycle and bend that tire and it's going to wobble pretty bad making it unusable.
What Causes Chakra Imbalance

When you are experiencing too much stress ,physically or mentally, this may cause one or more chakras to be out of balance. Personal habits such as poor physical alignment or posture, eating unhealthy food, or self-destructive behavior may cause a chakra to be imbalanced. Smoking, doing drugs or excessive use of alcohol, may also cause your chakras to become unbalanced.
According to Tantra, kundalini rests in the base chakra and snakes its way up, empowering each chakra in turn.
Kundalini is described as a sleeping, dormant potential force in the human organism. It is one of the components of an esoteric description of the "subtle body", which consists of Nadis (energy channels), chakras (psychic centers), prana (subtle energy), and Bindu (drops of essence).
We are all born with the power of chakras. However, it takes time for these powers to become fully functional. In effect, it takes around seven years for the power of each chakra to be properly assimilated. This, however, develops over childhood, and as each year that passes, the energy moves higher, beginning with the Root chakra moving upwards, through conscious experience.
This is how I envision it ~ Think of one of those wine glass pyramids, where they fill the top glass and the fluid flows downward until all the glasses are full and balanced. Tip that vision upside down, filling the bottom first and the flow is going upward .. like a backwards waterfall. The growth is gradual, but continual.
Also, if a trauma were to happen to a child in their first seven years, we are likely to see problems with the Root chakra. Eventually, without proper balancing, it will be too weak and we will see issues with insecurity.
I will be going over each of the 22 Chakras beginning with The Root in an upcoming Lesson in the Academy. I will explain all you need to know about each chakra in it's own Section within the Lesson.
I hope you enjoyed this one and will continue to grow with us.
Blessed Be
